Thanks to the new update: You now need a special lava fishing rod from the Crimson Isles update. Either get combat level 24, go to the crimson isle, go to the top of the volcano, and talk to the trophy fishing npc, or buy one off the auction house (but i think you may need to talk to that npc first, I am not sure)

In this hypixel skyblock guide I’ll show you what armor, pets, levels, and locations you need to make money fishing in lava and killing lava worms. The Worm Membranes they drop are worth a small fortune because they’re used to unlock gemstone sockets on Divan’s Armor. This modded minecraft server has a lot of unique features, and lava fishing is one of my favourite.
Lava fishing has fairly low requirements. All you need is level 19 fishing and heart of the mountain 3. As long as the worm membrane price holds, I would say this is my pick for the BEST money maker for newer players.
Lava Fishing was brought into Hypixel Skyblock during the Crystal Hollows update mid 2021, and can also be used to catch things like flaming pigmen and blazes. Although those sea creatures can drop Magma Cores which are worth around a mill, the drop rate is so low that they’re not nearly as profitable as Lava Worms.
For those of you who read this far into the credits instead of watching, I was able to land 400 catches per hour, and with looting 4 you have a 40% drop chance on worm membranes. This means you can multiply your sea creature chance as a decimal x 400, then multiply that by your drop chance to find your worm membranes per hour. Now all you have to do is check their price on the bazaar to find out how much you make per hour.
