First things first, let’s talk about making your own Minecraft server. There are really two different options for creating your now Minecraft 1.19 server to play with your friends. The first is creating the server locally on your own computer. By doing this, you are going to need a decent computer, good internet, and only give the IP address to people you trust. No matter what though, hosting your own Minecraft server to play multiplayer Minecraft with your friends leave you in complete control of the data and world on your server. It also allows you to customize the server however you like.

The easiest way to play Minecraft 1.19 Java Edition with your friends though is playing on a public server. To join a multiplayer Minecraft server with your friends, open Minecraft, click Multiplayer, and click ‘Add Server’ at the bottom of the screen. Then, name the server and enter the server’s IP. Your friends can join the server, and you can then play Minecraft together.

You can also start a realm. This can be done from the Minecraft main menu. Personally, I would recommend against realms as you get less customization of Minecraft. However, it is a way that you can play Minecraft with your friends.

Lastly, if you and your friends are on the same internet network/router, you can let your friend join your singleplayer Minecraft Java Edition world. Just open the world, pause Minecraft, click ‘Open To LAN’, and then ‘Start LAN World’. Now, your friend will go to the multiplayer screen in Minecraft, wait about 30 seconds, and your world will appear. They can get join it!
