Mining Guide:

I only put the more important ores in this brief mining guide, check the link to the reddit if you are curious. All of the following information was found by reading the “Minecraft 1.18 Relative Ore Distribution” chart found on the reddit link above. All credit to Reddit user Bazoqa for this information.

RAE Block: These ores spawn less when exposed to air. It would be more common for these ores to spawn in block sections to be strip mined. Be sure to check under water streams and in aquifers, as water does not count as an air block. This part is NOT very important for beginners.

Diamonds : Y level 0 and below. Most common at -54 or lower. RAE Block
Gold: Y level 16 and below. Most common at Y level -16 (best to search between 0 and 32 for this block, with most common occurrences directly in the middle at -16) RAE Block
Iron: You can find iron between Y level 54 and Y level -54. The most common occurances of iron spawn at Y level 16. When searching for this item, you will have the most luck between Y level 32 and Y level 0, with the most occurrences at Y level 16.
Coal: Y level 54 and Y level 16. The most occurrences of coal spawn at Y level 54. When searching for coal, stay above Y level 32.
Redstone: Y level 0 and below. Redstone is most common at Y level -54. When searching for Redstone, you will have the most luck below Y level -48.
