There are some limitations with this in that you will need some tech skills in order to start a server yourself as well as a good computer and internet connection. You will also need to open a port on your router for your Minecraft server in order for your friends to join.

If you don’t want to start a server on your own computer, one of the best Minecraft server hosting options is using a Minecraft server hosting company. There are tons of different hosting companies out there, and in the description above, we have a list of some of the best Minecraft server hosting options. However, if you don’t want to use a server hosting company, you can also try Minecraft Realms. This is paid hosting provided by Mojang themselves. The biggest limitation here is that you can’t add mods or really customize the server, so if you want more than just vanill Minecraft, you will need to host the server yourself or use one of the Minecraft server hosting companies.

The biggest limitation to playing Minecraft with your friends on the Essential Mod is that the server isn’t up all the time, and you are limited in regards to the mods you can use. It also uses your computer’s resources and internet connection to allow you to play together.
